Opallac On Cloud Nine – Gel Polish Swatch

As we head into the cooler part of the year where I am, it’s the perfect time to don your steely grey coloured polishes! This flavour du jour is On Cloud Nine from Opallac.

It marks this the first swatch I’ve been able to do in many many weeks, given serious health issues, so one might say that being ‘On Cloud Nine’ is quite apt. You know, my polishes were crying out for some love. I could hear them whimpering each night as I slept… Like the newborns in the neonatal unit in a large birthing hospital, cute polishes crying out for attention. “Aw, there, there. Be still my pretties…” 😂

This on trend medium-toned grey gel polish has a hint of shimmer and would suit most skin tones. Above I’ve done my best to show the colour shift you get from light to dark lighting conditions – even so far as in each nail. Quite a range of varied grey tones with the shadows turning ti to a darker grey.

This one is currently on sale on the Opallac website. There is a link below to purchase if you are interested.

I’ll be posting when I can but I still have a long way to go so it will be a gradual build up to get back to what became my regular kind of schedule and frequency. So thanks for sticking around. I’ll be doing something to say thanks in the near future. Follow me on Instagram and/or BlogLovin to be notified.

THE RUNDOWN:

Name: On Cloud Nine – available here or select Priceline (AU) stores
Brand: Opallac
Collection: Core Collection
Colour (or family): Light-Medium Grey
Type & Finish: ‎Shimmer
Size: 7.5ml / 0.25oz

Formula & Application notes:
I used 3 thin coats in my swatch to get a little more depth with the light shining onto the shimmer particles. You could get away with two coats quite easily – a thin base and a slightly more loaded brush for the second.

Given that it is a shimmer, you may see some strokes in the gel finish, HOWEVER! They are far more apparent in the photos than they are in real life. This is mostly because a camera picks up every minor detail and due to the way the photo light reflects off the particles.

The Verdict:
Given the tone and hue of this gel polish, the strokes didn’t faze me. I personally love greys and grey toned colours (ie, muted colours), so obviously I liked this shade too.

It throws a combination of colour with the shimmer in various lights, which I tried to capture in the images with varying degrees of success. There was no sun out to attempt a daylight shot either. This makes it a nice shade of grey that would compliment a vast array of skin tones. Some of the light grey shades can make fairer skin look washed out, but not this one.

Would look stylish for night wear, or as an accent nail. Also as the base for some punk, studded or Winter themed nail art. Combine it with a white polish for a softer contrast mani, in place of Black & White.
