Aztec Decals Tutorial & Born Pretty Mini Silicone Mat Review

Here’s the tutorial for the recent Aztec Decals nail art & a Born Pretty Mini Silicone Mat Review. This smaller portable mat is super handy and was used in the making of this mani. It’s just under 2 millimeters thick and dimensions are approx. 20cm x 15cm [or close to 6in x 8in]. This compares to the full size regular silicone mats from UberChic Beauty and the Twinkled T Glamour Mat – both of which are 16 inches wide by 12 in high.

Like other silicone mats, you can see how pliable and flexible this one is.

It’s small size makes it really handy for several reasons. Such as:

• taking on vacation or weekends away when you still want to do nails
• making drip marble or fluid art nails – less cumbersome to twirl about
• quick nail art – like when you don’t want or need to use the whole space of a large mat
• using in a small space
• portable for on-the-go uses
• mobile techs who stamp

JUST A HEADS UP – As with all stamping mats of silicone material: I very strongly suggest you do not let your stamper heads lay or sit on your mat/s for a longer time period (say any longer than a couple of hours), as doing so has been known to cause permanent ‘bubbling’ of these kinds of mat. It seems to happen more with the sticky stampers, and likely has something to do with the silicone oils reacting.

And just to show you quickly how each of the guide nails compares to the size of my REAL fingernail – using the aptly selected “middle finger” with my medium-long length nail. They differ slightly and the guide nail on the end if slightly wider to accommodate for the thumb.

The nail guides are printed on top but haven’t budged when wiping with acetone or anything else in my several uses so far.

How it arrives in the packaging. It came rolled up as is. Just let it sit for a few hours or overnight and it will get rid of any folds that may appear from having travelled in a tight envelope. Alternatively run it under hot water or sit it in a sink of hot water for a few minutes to do the same thing quicker.
