D is for Dots & Dashes – ABC Challenge

Further to my sudden decision to enter the ABC Challenge (see the previous post) I came up with something that was inspired by “D”. I thought I might have a bit of fun with this one (and the challenge on the whole), given my roots in the arts world. So I think I might aim for artsy interpretations.

Keeping it clean, I opted for a touch of the abstract. May I present – D is for: Dots & Dashes. I am quite happy with how they turned out actually!

Above is the mattified version which I think I actually prefer given that the shiny top coat was so shiny and too much reflection takes away from the abstract lines.

Above is the shiny version which isn’t too bad but I like the matte more. I made sure to shoot it without reflections because you couldn’t see the lines too clearly, so the shine effect might look subtle here, but it is there. If you can’t see it, just pretend 😁

I used my UberChic mat as a base upon which I painted straight lines masked out with tape. I then cut these up into strips made to measure and arranged hem on the nail base. Yes, again my love of negative space makes an appearance. And to add a little something I stuck on some teensy gold studs and squares in copper and gold.

Here’s a tutorial video from the YouTube channel I should use more (but oh, it can take so much time to edit well, so I haven’t quite got there). Please go ahead and SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL though. Anyhoo:

And another image just for kicks. Which version do you prefer?
