31DC2018 Day 22: Inspired by Song – Autumn Leaves

Catching up on the 31 Day Challenge for 2018. We’ve hit Day 22’s Inspired by A Song prompt. For this I chose to do Autumn Leaves.  [Explore entries on Instagram #31DC2018 ]

It was really an excuse to finally do an Autumn mani! I had a totally different song in mind – which I will still do later, but even though I said earlier I wasn’t going to do a Fall nail art until I was able to wear it longer than 24 hours, I caved. I had a cool track lined up to do, but at the last minute I found a song to fit my preferred theme of leaves, in this case Autumn Leaves by Nat King Cole! And a zillion other cover artists… Win-win!

So I did a combination matte and gloss effects in this one. I did a gradient stamping over a cool multichrome base, which shifts from a warm coppery shade, through gold, to blue slate – and hard to tell when matte. I matted the lot with a NEW ALMOST-LAUNCHED ITEM I will be showing you soon – a gorgeous matte top coat from Opallac! The polish fairies heard my screams! It’s a dream matte by the way, but more on that later!

Over this matted look I gloss stamped again so that the leaves looked matte like they were drier and crisper than the  other parts. Bloody hell, I couldn’t see the outlines of the clear gloss very well and two fingers were great and the other two are completely off registration haha! Oh well.

Yes, it’s posting late. I hit a snag with the continual disconnections and couldn’t post anything at all, so I’m still not ahead, and even more behind. Thanks Tech Ghosts. So watch out for an influx of nail spam – challenge art and SWATCHES if you follow me on Instagram. Finger’s crossed!
