Opallac Violet Spark – Gel Polish Swatch

Opallac Violet Spark – take a look at a Gel Polish Swatch of this deep violet polish. The sparkle in this loved to hide unless it was in a direct light, making the surface and edges too reflective so I’ve done my best to capture it so you can see the golden flecks. Close up below:

And another angle that shows the depth in this polish. See the cliff notes after the jump.

THE RUNDOWN:

Name: Violet Spark – available here or select Priceline (AU) stores
Brand: Opallac
Collection: A Little Spark Collection
Colour (or family): Violet
Type & Finish: Shimmer
Size: 7.5ml / 0.25oz

Formula & Application notes:
Smooth and very glossy, this was 2 coats. There is a lovely golden undertone that compliments the darkness of this violet. I had not come across any application issues, but recommend shaking the bottle well to distribute the shimmer flakes well. It is not a chunky glitter but a fine sparkle of ‘golden bits’, so no potential divots or bumpy finishes with this one – in case you are wondering.

I was expecting this shade to be a little lighter due to the colour on the sticker, but actually tend to prefer the darker shades of violet when it comes to purples. So that was that. Was pretty glossy with the top coat and it looked great in the sun.

The Verdict:
I actually used this as the base for a galaxy mani given the way the polish sparkled in certain lights or daylight. It wouldn’t pick up very well on camera without all the reflection and there was no more sun at that point, so it was hard to show in full blown light. If you are a purple lover or a freak for purples, I think you’d enjoy this one.

Depending on your work place, it may or may not be appropriate for day to day wear. It is quite a dark shade and would be suitable for Autumn, Winter, evenings or times when you wish to channel your inner goth but want a break from black. In some lights it is a blackened purple shade. What do you think?

Dupes/Similar Lacquers:
Reminds me of some of the OPI DS series, but definitely no dupes there.
