Glittery UR SUGAR Platinum Gel Polish – Born Pretty Review

Welcome to my sparkly post – a Glittery UR SUGAR Platinum Gel Polish – Born Pretty Review. I was sent 4 of these fabulously sparkly glitters to show you and here they are. Shown below are the pots both normal and soft focus to show off the holographic glitters.

Purchase details, links and description of the product/s are listed below the images in The Rundown section.

These gels come in a pot so you will paint them on with a gel brush – which gives a better control if you want to do or partial coverage such as tips only. I suggest using a brush specifically for glitters and glitter gels so it does not contaminate top coats or non-glitter polishes later.

Softened focus to show the holo glitter – UR Sugar Platinum Gel

There are 16 colours in this range and they’re all packed with glitter – including holographic glitter which really sparkles in the light. The colour range includes various gold, silver, blues, pinks, and purples, as well as a marine green. You can see the range below – the ones I have been sent are marked with a star.

The pots contain 7mls and arrived with a foil seal over the top and below the lid. One of the ones I received (blue) had slightly leaked, which is why it’s not pictured, but the rest were fully intact. Each also arrived in a plastic zip lock bag – which is really handy in case they do leak during shipping, at least in my case it was able to contain the sticky gel substance.

It’s super easy to control and apply with a brush, you can see from my swatches what the colours look like. The holographic quality really sparkles – even in certain dim lights, and I liked these even more than I expected.

You can see from my nail art (in this post here) I’ve used the gold holographic platinum gel. I’ve applied it over a milky white base to ensure no bare areas on the full coverage nails. And to apply a nice background for the half coverage nails where I’ve just done the tips. I did both to give you an example of what it looks like.

These gels cure with a UV or LED nail lamp. You’ll need to cure in a UV for 2 minutes or an LED for at least 60 seconds. Although, note that if you do thicker layers you want to cure a bit longer, so try to keep the layers thin and you shouldn’t have a problem. Because of the gritty surface you will need a nice generous layer of top coat to smooth out any bumps if you’ve done too thick a coat.

Removal was easy and took about 10 minutes using the foil method and acetone. I recommend filing the top of the gel to allow the acetone to penetrate when you’re ready to remove it. This will help with faster removal times.

And just an extra friendly reminder: avoid skin contact. If you see any signs of redness or other reactions you should stop using it immediately – as with any gel product common this is not just related to this one in particular. But I see new gel users have been visiting my blog lately, so it doesn’t hurt to mention it 😉
