Today’s mani is a mix of Fish Scales, Sea Glass & Studs. Cos who doesn’t love a bit of a blue tinted oceanic theme, eh?
Liking how these turned out mostly since I didn’t have a complete plan in place when I started. I used the polish base from the previous post as the base colour upon which the theme was based. Using Born Pretty Fish Scale vinyls JV203 – or search product number#23525, as a template rather than a sticker, I placed them over 4 fingers carefully. They are quite long, so they would fit longer nails. I usually keep mine around this length for practical reasons, including the fact that I like my eyes enough to want to keep them. But when I do go talon, it is good to know.
Using the make up sponge technique, I sponged on a gradient of blue and green metallic polish from Color Club. It was hard to capture the gradation in photos, but it does exist. You can see it in the sun. Peeling off the sticker in the direction of the polish so as not to lift it, I let it dry.
Next I added some ‘shattered glass’ shards – tinted mylar or cellophane sheets, cut into thin strips and placed on the accent nails. I’ve taken shots at various angles so you can see the colour shift. Lastly added a few charms, shells, rhinestones, a couple of pearls… all in keeping with the ocean theme. They were superglued on and set in top coat for staying power.
