Continuing with the 31 Day Challenge for 2018. We’ve hit Day 20’s Water Marble prompt. For this I chose to do a Water Marble variation using the veil style I’ve seen on Instagram – aptly named Peculiar Petals, for this mani. [Explore entries on Instagram #31DC2018 ]
I’ve seen this style floating around on the Insta-verse and wanted to try it so thought it would great (READ: less time consuming and less messy) than a regular marble. I’ve seen it attributed to Perfect 10 Custom nails so I am guessing she developed this originally. I used total guesswork to create this look and it didn’t turn out too badly considering – I’ve seen how polish folds when you f-up a water marble experiment and hazarded a guess the process was similar.
I used a nice dark navy over a lighter base of white and pink. I was totally going to add an abstract dot style print to the background and completely forgot before I added two generous layers of top coat to smooth it all out. I didn’t want to make it as thick as ‘Polish Mountain’ so I left it. Time better put towards other things right now anyways, so maybe I dodged a bullet haha. But whilst I like how the petals kind of look, it looks unfinished as a whole to me. Ergo, today’s title!

UPDATE: I’m back on top of the posts, just not the actual posting of said posts, so hoping to nip that in the bud finally tomorrow. Haven’t had much time to check out the other stuff this week, but aiming to get on top of that soon too!
