31DC2018 Day 02: Orange – Peachy Rose Gold Gel Drag Marble

Starting out behind on the 31 Day Challenge for 2018 by still catching up. So much for getting ahead. We’re only on Day 02’s Orange prompt. For this I chose to do a Peachy Rose Gold Gel Drag Marble. [Explore entries on Instagram #31DC2018 ]

I’m already gonna be thoroughly drowning in bright orange come Halloween, on my own and manis everywhere, so I opted for a hue instead. Don’t want be over it before October hits now, do I? Nope.

These were fun to do and I wanted to create something loosely based on the mad clouds that gas planets have. Think Jupiter banded cloud system, like the ones shown below. These colorful swirling cloud belts dominate Jupiter’s southern hemisphere in this image captured by NASA’s Juno spacecraft in 2017.

At the time the image was taken, the spacecraft was about 8,453 miles (13,604 kilometers) from the tops of the clouds of the planet at a latitude of 27.9 degrees south. I was mesmerised by the orange band around the ‘eye of Jupiter’ and thus the resulting mani.

I combined the two gel colours as if I was going to do a gel gradient for Boomer Nails, but instead used a liner brush to drag and combine.
